Mitchell Calls On Senators to Pass Clean Energy Legislation

March 17, 2010

Below is an e-mail update Senator Mitchell sent to supporters on March 16.

This is shaping up to be another busy week! There are three items in particular that I believe require immediate action:

  1. Today I will speak at a press conference organized by Repower Maine to organize 40 Days of Earth Day, 40 days before the 40th anniversary of the first Earth Day. The purpose? Clean energy. We are urging our U.S. Senators, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, to support the passage of climate and clean energy legislation.Passing this legislation is not only vital for our environment; it is vital for our economy in Maine. This is why I have sponsored a jobs bond that includes funds for energy efficiency.

. They need to hear your voice.
  2. The fight against Anthem’s rate hike continues. Change That Works is organizing a rally to protest Anthem in front of the Cumberland County Courthouse in Portland this Thursday at 5 PM. It will be followed by a bean supper at the Port CityMusic Hall on 504 Congress St. Portland. More information can be found here.
  3. The clock is ticking on Clean Elections. Marc from my campaign sent out an e-mail yesterday asking for $5, with less than two weeks to go until our filing deadline, I will repeat what he said:

Please donate $5 today to help me qualify for Clean Elections funding. Click here to do so.

If you have already given $5, please forward this e-mail to 5 friends.

Clean Elections helps push big money out of politics, putting the power in your hands (and out of the hands of the well-funded special interests that oppose clean energy and affordable health care).

It should be an exciting week! I appreciate your continued support,

Libby
